What "Mokutang" means
Our name leans on two Korean words. 목욕탕 (mogyoktang) is the neighborhood bathhouse — tiled floors, brass lockers, a hot tang and a cold plunge a few steps apart. 탕 (tang) does double duty in Korean: it's the word for a tub of hot water, and it's the word for a simmering pot of soup. Both meanings describe something acting on a body over time and heat. We formulate for the first tang, using logic borrowed from the second — steep something good, long enough, at the right temperature.

Mokutang soaks are manufactured in Korea by BUDLE BODY (부들바디) and sold through Amazon in the US — items ship from Amazon's own warehouses, with Budle Body as the seller of record. We don't run our own storefront or shipping; everything is fulfilled the way most Amazon shoppers already expect, including Amazon's 30-day return window.
What we believe about bathing
We make one style of product: half-bath (반신욕) soaks, built around thermal contrast rather than full submersion. Happy Tears is formulated and labeled for half-bath use only — not a full-body soak, not a foot soak. Our Mugwort Epsom & Himalayan Pink Salt blend is labeled and directed as a foot and body soak, using mugwort alongside Epsom and Himalayan pink salt. We'd rather make two soaks well than a dozen soaks vaguely — the full breakdown of both lives on the Shop page, and the reasoning behind them is in the Journal.
