HAPPY TEARS is a half-bath-only soak. Not a full-body soak, not a foot soak — it has to be used as a half-bath.

A little while ago I saw an Amazon review where someone had used HAPPY TEARS as a foot soak. NO — that's not it, that's not how it's meant to be used. The card in the package literally says half-bath. If only people followed the guide... (I'm sorry, American customer, that's such a shame.)

"Chili... in a bath soak?"

When I first told a friend I was making a chili-based bath soak, she said:

"Wait, chili? In a bath soak?" "That sounds kind of scary." "Wouldn't something fragrant be better?"

Friend! Fragrant bath soaks already exist in this world in unlimited supply!

I consider myself a professional bather. Sometimes I do a half-bath specifically to sweat. But I had never once met a bath soak that lived up to that expectation. I hoped Japanese bath soaks might be different, so I bought a bunch with high hopes — and every single time, I ended up feeling let down.

So I thought: then I'll make it

A half-bath soak, made for the specific purpose of sweating. HAPPY TEARS.

No one reads this blog yet, but I'll make this promise anyway: HAPPY TEARS is a soak built to make you sweat. It has chili in it, so it can feel spicy at first, and the powder can make you cough if you're not careful. But once you get past the adjustment period, it gives you a genuinely intense half-bath — an actually-works soak.

(I sound like a traveling salesman, don't I, ha.)

There are already so many pretty, good-smelling bath soaks out there. So shouldn't the world have room for at least one like this?

That was the beginning of HAPPY TEARS — a self-proclaimed professional bather's self-assigned mission: a sweat-explosion half-bath soak.
